    The "CBC Mobile News Updates" is a service for North American mobile subscribers that sends news and information headlines directly to either your mobile phone, or to your wireless PDA (carrier charges may apply).


  • What is the "CBC Mobile On Demand" service?
    CBC Mobile On Demand provides news and information headlines instantly, to North American wireless subscribers, at the moment they are requested by text-message on a mobile phone, or to your PDA.


  • What do I require to receive this service?
    For News updates, all you need is a mobile phone with active text messaging display service from a North American wireless service provider. If you're unsure whether you have, or can activate text messaging on your mobile phone, simply call your service provider. (i.e. Rogers Wireless). For email updates, all you need is a wireless PDA.


  • How do I know if I have a text messaging service on my mobile phone?
    All mobile phones are different, but all phones sold in the past five years offer text messaging. You can access the service through your phone's main menu.

    If you have any questions regarding the availability and functionality of a text messaging service on your mobile, please contact your service provider.


  • Is there a cost for this service?
    Check with your North American wireless carrier to see if charges apply for you to receive text messages. No charge applies to receive CBC/Radio-Canada content.


  • Will I be bombarded (a.k.a SPAMMED) with unwanted text messages?
    The only information you receive is what you personally request, or opt-in for on your registration form. You can modify or cancel at anytime. Any personally identifiable information submitted here is kept strictly confidential in accordance with CBC Privacy Policy


  • What if my mobile number changes?
    If your mobile number changes, or you'd like to make any other changes to your Mobile Updates preferences, simply log into your online profile and make the necessary changes . Click "Continue" your changes will be automatically saved.


  • How do I remove myself from this service?
    To be removed from CBC Mobile News Updates, simply text message "STOP" to whichevershort code you registered, 22222 (CBCCA) for English headlines, or 77222 (SRCCA) for French headlines.

    To reactivate the service, text message "START" to the appropriate short code.


  • What do I do if "CBC Mobile News Updates" and "CBC Mobile On Demand" services aren't functioning properly?
